Corona Virus: qué hacer - what to do

Queridas y queridos amigos,
en estos días, se me hace muy difícil reflexionar o filosofar sobre cualquier otra cosa que no sea el Corona Virus.

No es que haya perdido mi interés por otros asuntos.

Lo que pasa es que siento que el Covid 19 y sus eventuales consecuencias los abarca todos.

Así que por un tiempo, creo que voy a enfocarme en este tema.

Desde el silencio de mi aislamiento en Brasilia, veo que, a grandes rasgos, hay dos escenarios posibles:

1 - En un mes se descubre una vacuna, se consigue distribuirla en todo el mundo y, después de sacudirse el polvo, la humanidad vuelve a retomar sus costumbres más o menos como las conocíamos.

2 - El asunto se prolonga y, por no poder aguantar las presiones económicas y sociales que produce la cuarentena, se desata un "sálvese quién pueda" que se parece bastante al apocalipsis zombie.

Como por opción soy optimista, tengo muchas ganas de creer que pronto vamos a ver imágenes de personas celebrando el triunfo sobre el virus y que durante un tiempo nos vamos a dedicar a hacer inteligentes reflexiones sobre la necesidad de crear una sociedad más fraterna y solidaria. Que poco después van a aparecer otros problemas, nos vamos a olvidar de todo, y las cosas van a seguir su rumbo más o menos como estaban antes.

Como por naturaleza soy un poco rebelde, y mi análisis del desarrollo de la historia humana no me lleva a tener tantas esperanzas, creo que así como la gripe común es una respuesta del organismo ante un virus o una bacteria que lo amenaza, el Corona Virus es un síntoma de una gripe planetaria.

Si observamos con un poco de desapego la actuación del Homo Sapiens sobre el planeta, tenemos que aceptar que por cada motivo de orgullo hay diez de vergüenza.

Creo que, venga lo que venga, tenemos que aprovechar esta crisis para intentar sacar lo mejor de cada uno de nosotros y demostranos que podemos actuar de manera colectiva de manera inteligente. Ahora es el momento de demostrar nuestra humanidad en la práctica.

Si esto sigue, pronto vamos a entender en las vísceras que los sueldos de los jugadores de fútbol son un absurdo y que tener 1.000 millones de dólares en el banco debería ser considerado un crímen y no un motivo para aparecer sonriendo en la tapa de una revista.

Espero que esto pase pronto pero que la enseñanza nos ayude a crecer y nos permita crear más bienestar para todos.

In these days, reflecting or philosophizing about anything other than the Corona Virus seems very difficult for me. It´s not that I´ve lost interest in other matters. What happens is that I feel that the Covid 19, and its eventual consequences, cover them all.

So for a while, if I write again, I think I'm going to focus on this topic.

From the silence of my isolation in Brasilia, I see that, broadly speaking, there are two possible scenarios:

1 - In a month a vaccine is discovered, it is distributed throughout the world and, after dusting off, humanity returns to resume its customs more or less as we knew them.

2 - The matter is prolonged and, for not being able to bear the economic and social pressures produced by the quarantine, an "every man for himself" is unleashed, which closely resembles the zombie apocalypse.

As an optimist by choice, I really want to believe that soon we will see images of people celebrating the triumph over the virus and that for a time we will dedicate ourselves to making intelligent reflections on the need to create a more fraternal and caring society. That soon after that other problems will appear, we are going to forget everything, and things are going to go their way more or less as they were before.

As by nature I am a little rebellious, and my analysis of the development of human history does not lead me to have so many hopes, I think that just like the common flu is the body's response to a virus or a bacterium that threatens it, the Corona Virus it is a symptom of a planetary flu.

If we observe with a little detachment the actions of Homo Sapiens on the planet, we have to accept that for
every reason of pride there are ten of shame.

I believe that whatever comes our way, we have to take advantage of this crisis to try to bring out the best in each of us and prove to ourselves that we can act collectively with intelligence. Now is the time to demonstrate our humanity in practice.

If this continues, we will soon understand in the guts that the salaries of soccer players are absurd and that having 1,000 million dollars in the bank should be considered a crime and not a reason to appear smiling on the cover of a magazine .


I hope this is over soon, but that the teachings of the virus will helps us grow and allow us to create more well-being for all.
